2018 Official Charity

Tour de Summerlin is proud to announce that Breakaway Cycling is the official charity for our 2018 event.

Breakaway Cycling is a non-profit organization created by their admiration for the sport of cycling.  Bonded by friendship, they are passionately committed to serving the community and promoting the etiquette and safety of cycling to young riders. Using cycling as a springboard, they extend the organization’s reach through active involvement with local charities. Their partnership with the Clark County School District has their members teaching youth biking safety and the joy of  riding a bike. With bike rodeos and safe routes to school programs, the team members are able to share and teach local youth their passion of riding a bike. With the help of sponsors, teammates, and donations they are able to provide bikes, helmets, bike locks and various other services to local children who may not  otherwise obtain these items. Tour de Summerlin offers three different ride distances for your enjoyment. Whether you’re a hard core rider or just enjoy getting out on the bike, each bike route offers plenty of bike lanes, beautiful scenery and unique riding experiences. With continual construction and ever changing road obstacles from year to year, we are always looking to update our bike routes as necessary to provide the safest and most rider friendly courses.

The 2018 bike routes are being finalized and will be posted once approved. We will be working with city officials as we get closer to the event and will notify all participants if there are any changes to our bike routes prior to the event. Our number one concern is rider safety and please be assured that we will address any and all road construction issues that exist.

Please note that bike routes are subject to change. We will be providing written out street directions and maps at packet pickup as well as posting them here on this site and on Facebook and Twitter.

2016 Participants Brave the Weather

We would like to send out a sincere ‘THANK YOU’ to everyone who braved the winds on Saturday and came out and supported our ride this year. We have been so lucky to have met so many wonderful people putting on this event over the past 15 years and Saturday was no exception. Everyone came out with such great attitudes and tons of enthusiasm and all of you really lifted our spirits. Have to be honest…. we were all a bit down Friday and Saturday morning because of the weather, but as soon as we saw all the determined riders line up for the 7 a.m. start to the 80 mile ride… those feelings all went away. All of you sucked it up and powered through one of the toughest weather days we’ve had… and you did it with smiles on your faces and with gratitude. ALL OF YOU are the reason we keep working hard to make this event fun and memorable. The wonderful feedback and gratitude you have shown us over the years makes all the stress and anxiety of putting on an event like this more than worth it. We appreciate each and every one of you and we truly hope that our hard work and efforts measure up to your standards. You all did an amazing job out there  Saturday and your positive spirit and determination were inspiring for all of us to experience in person!

Route Concerns and Road Construction

We understand that a number of you might be out pre-running the courses we currently have mapped out (which at this time are the same as last year). If you have pre-run you might have run into some serious road construction issues. Please know that we are well aware of these issues and will be addressing them in the weeks leading up to the event. It has been our policy to wait as long as possible to notify participants so that we do not create any confusion in regards to any route changes that need to be made. We will also provide written out street directions and maps at packet pickup as well as posting them here on this site and also on Facebook and Twitter.
